The Green House Issue: Who Cares! (Climate Change)

“Green House effect”- For past few decades it’s being considered as an important. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, climate change is arguably the most important environmental issue. This is an idea that has grown from the ‘greenhouse gases (water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone, CFCs)’ theory proposed over a hundred years ago by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius, to a demonstrable fact today. The sun and the water cycle are simultaneously responsible for maintenance of world temperature. These are also responsible for the Earth’s weather and energy balance, the world’s average temperature should be considerably lower without greenhouse gases, if all else was considered equal and stable. Among Greenhouse gases, water vapor is needed to maintain the temperature of the Earth’s surface. It is thought that on an average further 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) temperature will likely rise a during the twenty-first century which will result the submersion of many third world countries. Although this effect is variable from region to region around the globe. most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming is expected to continue in the absence of new emissions because of the large heat capacity of the oceans and the lifespan of CO2 in the atmosphere Every day we, the inhabitants of earth is emitting a huge amount of smoke from industries and vehicles; removing hectares of forest areas for various purpose which is the ultimate outcome of the developed countries. Argument continues about the cause but there is an increasing consensus that the temperature of the globe is rising, climate is being affected and, if the trend continues, sea levels will rise and rainfall patterns will be altered with the result that both droughts and floods will become more common.

The health impacts of global warming will include changes in the geographical range of some vector-borne infectious diseases and the effects of adverse weather conditions. Severe storms, floods and droughts have claimed millions of lives during the past 20 years and have adversely affected the lives of many more. It is estimated that 123 000 people per annum died in weather-related catastrophes between 1972 and 1996, most of them in Africa and the Indian subcontinent. The economic costs of property damage and the impact on agriculture, food supplies and prosperity have also been substantial. The experience of the past three decades will only worsen if climate scientists’ predictions for global warming are realized.

Currently, politicians cannot agree on an effective framework of actions to tackle the problem. Meanwhile, the industrialized world continues with lifestyles and waste that are beyond the planet’s limits to sustain. Rapidly growing economies in the world’s two most populous states, India and China, are going to be a vital part of the unfolding problem or solution.
